Ellensburg Safeway On some projects, like the Safeway in Ellensburg, Washington's Historic Downtown District, we help bring people together. The city's design review process made it clear that the usual Safeway store just wouldn't do — all the buildings in the district are either from the turn of the 19th century or constructed to look that way - and Safeway's typical store design did not match that look. We worked with both sides to create a building that, in the end, made everyone happy. The resulting store fit with the city's standards and with Safeway's. Even though they were initially reluctant to change, six months later Safeway made our design the design for their entire Seattle division. |
