Gregg Soares Named Associate at Bernardo Wills
At Bernardo Wills, becoming an Associate is about more than a title - it’s a reflection of trust, leadership, and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful architecture. We’re proud to announce that Gregg Soares has been named an Associate, recognizing both the impact he’s already made and the role he’ll continue to play in shaping our work, our culture, and our client relationships.
For Gregg, the promotion represents an opportunity to build on the investment Bernardo Wills has made in him—and to pass that momentum forward.
“Becoming an Associate means building on the experience and time invested in me by BW,” Gregg says. “It’s about keeping the same energy and attention to detail I bring to projects, and hopefully inspiring that in others.”
That energy is something clients and colleagues notice immediately.
Turning Vision Into Experience
Gregg has been involved in a wide range of projects across virtually every phase of work, but what he enjoys most is the moment when ideas become real.
“Helping a client put their vision into a design and then seeing it materialize is the most rewarding part,” he explains. “When the client can see, feel, and experience their ideas—that’s when a project really succeeds.”
That focus on experience shapes how Gregg approaches design. He’s deeply invested in understanding what clients need, how they’ll use a space, and how a building should support their goals—long after construction is complete. It’s also why he takes particular pride in exceeding expectations, not just meeting them.
Growing Through Collaboration and Community
As an Associate, Gregg is especially excited to expand his involvement beyond individual projects and into broader professional and community engagement. Building relationships, whether with clients, collaborators, or community organizations, has always been an important part of his approach and this next chapter creates space to do even more.
“I’m looking forward to becoming more involved with professional and community organizations,” Gregg says. “Even small contributions can lead to meaningful relationships and new opportunities.”
That mindset aligns closely with Bernardo Wills’ belief that architecture plays a vital role in strengthening communities. Gregg’s desire to contribute—thoughtfully and authentically—makes him a natural fit for leadership within the firm.
Outside the Office
When Gregg isn’t designing buildings, you’re likely to find him outdoors—hiking, kayaking, or snowboarding—or in his woodshop when the weather keeps him inside. That hands-on creativity carries over into his professional work, reinforcing a respect for materials, process, and craftsmanship.
He’s also known around the office for his meticulous note-taking, which helps keep projects moving forward. And while he jokes that “Red Bull and spite” help keep him energized, his focus is grounded in something much more meaningful.
Inspired by What’s Possible
One of Gregg’s greatest sources of inspiration is his child, who is currently excelling in JROTC, flight school, and a full schedule of AP classes.
“They’re doing things I couldn’t have imagined at that age,” Gregg says. “At that point, I was mostly focused on not falling off a tractor and figuring out when I could get into town to skateboard.”
That perspective—recognizing growth, possibility, and the potential for something better—also shows up in how Gregg thinks about design. If he could have a superpower, it wouldn’t be about changing worlds, but observing them.
“Just being able to see or experience what might be possible,” he says. “Building confidence that something better could exist.”
Looking Ahead
Gregg’s promotion to Associate reflects his dedication to clients, his collaborative approach, and his commitment to continuous growth. As he takes on this new role, we’re excited to see how his leadership, curiosity, and community-minded outlook continue to shape our work.
Congratulations, Gregg—we’re proud to have you as part of the Bernardo Wills leadership team.
