Please Welcome: Joshua Tomlinson

At Bernardo Wills, we believe successful projects live at the intersection of thoughtful design, careful coordination, and strong relationships. That balance is exactly what Joshua Tomlinson brings to his role as Project Manager, and we’re thrilled to officially welcome him to our team.

Josh attended Washington State University, where his early studies focused on environmental science and physics before discovering architecture through a studio course. He went on to earn both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture at WSU, laying a strong foundation built on technical understanding and creative exploration.

Following graduation, Josh began his career in Seattle, where he spent over a decade learning across a wide range of firms and project types. From healthcare environments to retail spaces, multifamily housing, and commercial projects, he gained hands-on experience across nearly every phase of the architectural process. One of his early roles included work on healthcare projects during a challenging economic period, teaching him the importance of adaptability and clear communication.

Later, Josh worked with both boutique design studios and large national firms. At a smaller practice, he was immersed in highly detailed, hands-on work, contributing to everything from architecture to custom fixtures and built-in furniture. At larger firms, Josh worked on fast-paced retail projects, including Apple Stores across the country. These projects demanded speed, precision, and strong coordination between designers, clients, and construction teams.

Following a move to Spokane, Josh joined Fusion Architecture, where he spent several years working primarily on multifamily projects as well as a range of commercial work. During this time, he discovered how much he enjoys working closely with others, sharing knowledge, and supporting both teams and clients through challenging moments.

Most recently, Josh has worked on projects serving Native American communities, an experience that reinforced the importance of listening carefully, understanding context, and honoring the people behind each project.

As a Project Manager at Bernardo Wills, Josh thrives at both ends of the project lifecycle. He enjoys the early, exploratory phase, where collaboration and conversation help uncover what clients truly need and value.

Clients will benefit from Josh’s ability to juggle multiple moving parts, keep communication clear, and guide projects forward with confidence. His background allows him to anticipate challenges, coordinate teams effectively, and ensure that every phase supports the larger vision.

We’re proud to welcome Joshua Tomlinson to Bernardo Wills. His experience, curiosity, and dedication to thoughtful project management strengthen our team and, most importantly, support the clients and communities we serve.
