We are pleased to welcome Jim Carlson to Bernardo Wills as our newest Landscape Architect. With more than 20 years of experience and a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree, Jim brings a deep passion for creating outdoor environments that foster connection, wellbeing, and stewardship of the natural world.

Jim's path to landscape architecture began with his background in fine arts and an interest in the architectural field. While exploring graduate programs, he discovered a description of landscape architecture as "the art and science of designing outdoor spaces." The profession's unique blend of creativity, science, and diverse specialties immediately resonated with him and ultimately led him to earn his MLA from Utah State University.

For Jim, one of the most rewarding aspects of working within an architectural firm is the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines. He sees architects and landscape architects as partners in creating spaces that positively shape how people experience the built and natural environments. That collaborative spirit extends to every project he works on. Jim thrives on bringing together designers, clients, and stakeholders to develop solutions that not only meet expectations but exceed them.

Outside of work, Jim enjoys exploring the spectacular landscapes of the Pacific Northwest with his son. We're excited to have Jim join the Bernardo Wills team and look forward to the expertise, creativity, and collaborative energy he will bring to our clients and projects!
