Peterson Group Campground
Farragut State Park is the largest and most visited destination in the Idaho State Parks system, yet until now, it lacked a dedicated space for group camping. The Peterson Group Camp is a new, purpose-built facility designed to meet the park’s growing demand for group accommodations, while enhancing the overall visitor experience and reducing pressure on existing campgrounds.
The new campground will consist of two pods, each capable of hosting 50–75 guests. Each pod offers a mix of camping options (10 full-service RV sites (eight pull-through, two loop), five oversized tent pads, and two camper cabins) designed to accommodate a wide range of ages, preferences, and accessibility needs. These diverse site types allow families and groups to camp together in one location.
At the center of each pod is a large group shelter, fully equipped for gathering and food preparation. Amenities include sinks, counters, power outlets, flush toilets, and a utility/storage room. Additional restrooms and showers will be centrally located, with vault toilets near tent and cabin areas. A campground host site with full hook-ups will support operations.
The Peterson Group Camp offers a tailored solution to group camping, reducing conflicts in general-use areas and streamlining park management. With construction underway in 2024 and opening planned for 2025, this project marks a significant step forward in expanding inclusive, multi-generational outdoor recreation opportunities at Farragut State Park.
